I'm doing good thanks Fran! 8 days to go! Well, I'm being hard on 1408 because the thing that wasn't answered was only a minor plot thing - it wasn't crucial to understanding the heart of the story, but it just bugged me!!!! I am very into details though, so it might not bother somebody else at all. Good enough flick overall though - great for keeping you wondering what is going to happen next. Thrillers/horrors are the business!

Has anyone seen The Jane Austen Bookclub? It looks really good.
You don't have to know the books to be in the club. As five women and one enigmatic man meet to discuss the works of Jane Austen, they find their love lives playing out in a 21st century version of her novels. Sylvia (Amy Brenneman), is shocked when her husband Daniel (Jimmy Smits), leaves her after 20 plus years and three children. Jocelyn (Maria Bello), her unmarried best friend, distracts herself from her unacknowledged loneliness by breeding dogs. Prudie (Emily Blunt) is a young French teacher, in possession of a worthy husband yet distracted by persistent fantasies about sex with another man. The many times married Bernadette (Kathy Baker) develops a yearning for one more chance at happiness. Beautiful, risk-taking Allegra (Maggie Grace), Sylvia and Daniel's lesbian daughter, has quit talking to her lover. And Grigg (Hugh Dancy), a young science fiction fan and computer whiz, seems horribly both out of place and obliviously at ease as the only man to be invited into the book circle.

Has anyone seen Juno? I watched it last night and wasn't too impressed. The plot revolves around the teenage pregnancy, but at the end, it switches to love story mode. I didn't find that convincing at all - it just seemed like a convenient end. Just didn't think there was anything special about this film at all after all the hype about it. It was like something you'd see on TV3 (you know those movies that go straight to TV and don't do all that well?). The lead character also has this dead monotone voice which gets a bit hard to listen to after a while!

thanks susan must pop into xtravision and have a look... that 27 dresses is being advertised for ireland now...i saw it on tv last night..it looks very good...katherine heigl is in it...shes doing a lot of films lately... Juno wouldnt appeal to me at all...why are they making it funny that a teenage girl is pregnant? i think it would only encourage young girls to do it...i didnt know this either that a teenage mum is now called a pramface? tina in corrie said that phrase and I didnt know what she had meant...

I never heard of Pramface until last night either Charlie - there is a documentary on one of the channels (can't rem which as I was just flicking the remote) this week called Pramface Mothers or something like that. They showed a girl screaming in childbirth in the ad, so as you can imagine, I flicked the remote again very, very fast!!! :-)
I'm watching Atonement here at the mo, just watched the first hour. Really enjoyed the first 40 minutes, but now we're in a war era and it's not my thing. I'm looking forward to it going back a bit more to the love story element.

I loved the film Attonement, but not as much as I loved the book - it completely blew me away and is currently my second favourite book of all time after Jane Eyre ( no one can topple her crown!)
I watched 'Crash' this evening. What an amazing movie. It shows all sides of human nature - how each of us is neither wholly good nor wholly bad, we're all mixtures.

I'm looking forward to sex and the city too. I'll definately go to the cinema to see it. Damn I meant to tape must love dogs on Tuesday night. It's supposed to be very funny, hopefully it will be on soon again. That reminds me, I taped the terminal (Tom Hanks) a while back, and I forgot all about it. I might watch that on Sat night. Have any of you seen it?

I eventually finished watching Atonement. I liked the story, but it felt a bit disjointed and the ending was abrupt for me. I don't know, I just didn't feel satisfied when it ended! I think the book would be more up my street. I am currently watching The Bucket List (just stopped there to get a drink and decided to check the site!) and I'm enjoying it - it's harmless and predictable, but I love Jack Nicholson!!!!

We went to see Juno last night. I was expecting more after the script won the Oscar. The dialogue is cracking, all right and the lead actress is excellent but all in all a bit flat.
