Hi Anne Marie
I've read both of your books and thought that they were fab. You mention Manchester a lot in the second book, will the third book have links to Manchester too?

unfortunatley I have not read your first book, but after the second book, will definately be reading it. I love the way the characters reflected the theme of catholic guilt in modern irish families living in inner city communities in the UK. Is this a theme you have expereinced yourself?

Hi AnneMarie
You seem to have a very flowing comic talent in your writing. have you done any other comedy work before or will be doing in the future?

Hi Anne Marie I have read both your books and cannot wait for the next one. You bring lots of life to your characters, who are all really believeable. Are they based on actual people who you have met in real life?

the main character in "Bono" finds herself in a number of scrapes throughout the course of the book; do you ever find yourself in funny situations and wonder how on earth you ended up doing that?

Anne-Marie, I enjoyed both of your books, and I was wondering whether you have ever thought about writing for television or film, or adapting any of your novels into a screenplay?

hi
just wanted to say that i enjoyed both your books esp the last one you seem to have grown alot as a writer. humour seems to be a great way for you to carry a quite difficult theme of denial in your last book.
are you a woman who thinks she is funny???

Sally, hi. I have started my third book and am five chapters in. It is called The Steps of St Pauls and takes place in London and Dublin and is about five friends who meet up ten years to the day after the shot-gun wedding of one of the group. It is about friendship, love and how our ideals and ambitions change with age.

Hello Chris
Was it difficult to get into writing? It takes alot of time to write a novel and also to get from first putting pen to paper. I first started writing when I lived in Dublin and had an office to myself (I did do some work during the day!) I began with short stories but soon learned that there isn't much of a market for short stories for new writers. I changed two of these into monologues and they were commissioned by a theatre company in Manchester. I then set to work on Everyone's got a Bono Story. That took about four months to write the first draft but it was a year before I had an agent and a publisher.
I decided to write fiction because I can make things up and enjoy telling a story but my indepth knowledge of anything detailed is limited. Might be a while before you seen Fly Fishing by Anne-Marie O'Connor!

Hello Michelle
The only link to manchester in my third book is that the characters in it met at Manchester University but they will mostly be having their trials and tribulations in London.

do you think you will ever write anything set entirely outside Ireland, or is that the major theme that really drives your writing?
