Hi Gals,
I couldn't find the old film thread we used do have ( well not on the recent threads anyway) so I decided to set up a new one.
I saw THe Kite Runner, a couple of nights ago and it is FANTASTIC!!! I can't recommend it highly enough, especially if you have read the book. I am now reading it for the second time. What a masterpiece this book is!

I went and saw P.S I Love You on Boxing Day. I really enjoyed it. lots of funny moments and a few sad ones also. i'm going to reread the book (when my sister eventually returns it) so i can see if it differs much.

Ooooh. Interesting to hear that Nicc. I think I may pop along to that movie too. I gave my copy of that book away. Wish I hadn't now. It would be worth a second read - just to try and work out the secret of its success.

Hi, I was wondering if anybody had gone to see PS I Love You. Oonagh sounds like you really enjoyed it. I have read the book and was afraid that I would be disappointed if it wasn't the same, but I think I'll go now. It's on in our local cinema at the moment. Did anybody watch Tara Road on Stephen's night. Though it was quite good, but glad I waited for it to come on TV.

Did you seen Pride and Prejudice last night (RTE) I could watch that Mr Darcy walking through the morning mist for hours. The long coat flapping. The white shirt open (he must have been chilly!) lovely

Saw 27 Dresses and it was great. A real chick-flick, so if your in to that type of movie i recommend it. It's about a girl, Jane, who finds it hard to say no to people so consequently has found herself being a bridesmaid 27 times, organising most of it. At the beginning she is even in 2 weddings at the same time and having to rush back and forwards between the 2. Jane is totally in love with her boss, which he doesn't see. then he meets her sister and ends up falling in love with her. they get engaged and Jane finds herself once again being a bridesmaid and helping to organize the whole thing.

Hi Nic, I hadn't heard of 27 Dresses either. But it sounds fun. Actually sounds a bit like me. I find it really hard to say no to people and I'm always getting myself in to trouble trying to please everybody. This Christmas I had three dinners. I didn't want to let my parents down so I went there first, then a friend of mine was on his own and I felt sorry for him, so I went there at five and then to another friend who's husband has just left her at seven and then back to my parents to check on them at nine. I was wrecked at the end of the day. That's one of my New Year's resolutions, to be assertive and say NO!!! Anyway that movie sounds hilarious. I must watch out for it. What country is it from?

I watched Pride and Prejudice the other night too and really enjoyed it. The opening piece of the English countryside and the birds twittering is lovely. I love Kiera Knightly but that Mr. Darcy doesn't do it for me, Katie, I prefered Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation!!

I loved Pride and Predjudice the other night. I thought this particular productionwas the best ever. It wasn't chocolate-box pretty and no wonderbras! Very true to what life in the country would have been like in those days. The women were very drab in their every day dresses (which they must have made themselves) and they didn't curl their hair except for big occasions. Lots of mud and rain too.
The house the girls lived in was great too. A bit run down and messy, like it would have been. I loved the scene at the end when they did a frantic clean up of the drawing room for the visitors.
Keira Knightly was wonderful and so was Mr Darcy. Colin Firth was too Mills&Boonsy with his over-the-top brooding looks. This one was more true to life.
And it was so beautifully filmed. A real treat.
