My little sister has done it loads of times, but they have a fixed line broadband so you can basically do what you want on it. The picture does be a bit shaky but shes managed to watch a couple of movies.... but with the mobile broadbands you only have a certain amount of downloading you can do, so If I try to download a movie it would take 1GB and you only get 10Gb a month after that you would get charged more..and also its not strong enough to do it, I did try but it wouldnt come through properly. Amanda couldnt even get onto the University website to get her results, it wasnt strong enough to download all the data.she went onto my sisters pc and it all came through in seconds and she got her results..she couldnt do it on mine...so I wouldnt bother even trying with it..

I went to see the Kite Runner last week. What a film. I haven't read the book but now I think I will. I couldn't sleep at night thinking about it, it was all that was going through my mind last week.
Tomorrow I'm going to see P.S. I Love you, there's a contrast, with some friends. They don't like scary films

Hi Claire, I used to really like a good thriller, but since I moved here on my own, I can't watch them or I end up leaving the lights on all over the house for days. Was The Kite Runner really scary? Anyway hope you enjoy PS I Love You tonight. I missed it in the cinema here so reckon I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD. Looking forward to seeing it.

Hi Angie, Hope you get back on line soon. I see what you mean about the mobile internet. I am only realising what it's really like now. I've had awful hassle with it for the past few days. They make it sound so perfect in their advertisments. I checked on some of the chat rooms on the Web and it really isn't getting great reports. The only reason that I got it is because I don't really want a landline phone. Main reason is most of my friends and family just have mobiles, so there package of free local and national calls wouldn't really apply to me, and it would cost a fortune ringing mobiles, so the line rental wouldn't be worth it. Bit of a rip off if you ask me. I wish Eircom would just let you have a line for Broadband, without the phone. It would be so much better, & the allowance is 25GB. I only have 5 GB on Vodafone. I was silly and didn't check it out properly. I should have gone with 3G, as their download speeds are supposed to much faster too. I'll definately change next year though. No point in broadband if you can't do everything that you want to do on it.

Hi All. Another weekend over. Hope you all had a good one. Claire glad you enjoyed PS I Love You. Cant wait to see it now. Nic Good luck with the wedding shopping. Charlene I heard that Enchanted was good, that's another one to add to the list of DVD's to buy. Angie, think you're right about downloading movies, guess it's best just to buy them. It would cost €20 for 1GB on Vodafone bill, if I went over my limit anyway. I've recorded loads of movies from the tv and they work on the laptop. There's a movie on tonight, with Jennifer Lopez called Monster in Law. It's a comedy. Think I'll watch that and then start into my book.

How exciting. Where did you try? You can get inspiration from the movies, of course. i've been looking on the net and found a dress I liked so I went t oa dress maker to see how much it would cost to make and she quoted $1200 . The dress is nice but not that nice. It was just a simple thingytail dress with some beading on it. My dress for my first wedding didn't even cost that! And it was the full on gown. My sister has a friend who is a dress maker and she is going to ask her how much it would be to make the dress. So I just had a look at some dress shops. Saw a couple I liked but when I put them on they just didn't look right. I'm trying to lose some weight aslo so I might look again in a couple of months.

Hi Nic, Gosh that was expensive. It's a long time ago now, but when I was looking for my wedding dress, I found it very hard to find the dress that I wanted within my price range so I actually ended up hiring one. I got the perfect dress that would have cost me an absoute bomb to buy at a fraction of the price. Just a thought for you. I'm trying to loose weight myself. It's hard isn't it. A few years ago, I got really heavy. It was the time that I my marriage was on the rocks. I managed to loose 5 stone, but over the past two years I've managed to put two stone back on. I'm so cross with myself so I'm back on a strict diet again. I use a diet called Bodyshape. You replace two meals a day with it, and have one good evening meal and fruit in between if you're hungry. It's great because it makes it very easy to count and control your calories, and you can more or less have what you like for your one meal as there are loads of calories left over for it. Anyway good luck with the diet and the dress. Hope you find the perfect one!!

Nicc, Abby got her dress off e-bay or one of those internet sites. it was beautiful!! It is madness what you pay for a dress nowadays. My sister has a bridal shop and when the sale is on she says it is hectic. Like Fran said you could hire one but keep an eye on all the bridal shops to see when they have sales. they usually sell off the ones that are used for fittings. When is the big day??
I've manged to loose about 9 kilo about 2 stone I think that is. Hein needed to loose weight so we went on a diet together and he lost 25 kilos. He gets up on the home trainer every evening and does a 50 minute cycle. He says that that is the only way to keep it off. We started this diet last summer and it is all about eating proper foods. You must have a breakfast, then a snack usually fruit, then a lunch another snack, fruit or cookies low in cals and then a good dinner. And try not to snack in the evenings. If you must go for a low cal or light crisps. It's easier trying to lose it together

best of luck with the shopping, Nicc. I was very lucky with my wedding dress - I bought the very first one I tried on for £175, off the rail, in Monsoon. (a chain of retail outlets for women and children). I think hiring a dress is a great idea, Fran.
And well done on losing all that weight, Claire. Your diet sounds really healthy and sensible.

Good luck with the dress shopping Nicc, my dress cost £27. amandas communion dress cost £150. i went wrong somewhere there...lol.....I think hiring would be better too, after all my dress is sitting in the attic collecting dust...I think ill buy a nice dress for my divorce date instead...lol....you just have to shop around you can get lucky when you least expect it...check out your local papers too sometimes there are adds in there for dresses for sale??? Well done claire, thats a fantastic diet...at least when the 2 of ye are doing it together, its support for each other..

I've actually joined up to the bigget loser club. You just do it over the net and they make up weekly menu's and exercise programs. They tell you how many calories you can have a day and you can enter what you eat in a diary and it works it all out for you. It even tells you how much you need to walk to burn off certain foods. I've cut down heaps on my chocolate intake and been drinking heaps of water. i also ride my excercise bike for 1/2 hr, do sit up's and push up's and go for a walk when I get a chance. We get married on the 20th Sept this year. It is just gonig to be a simple garden wedding with a lunch reception. I just want a simple dress (not going for the big bridal dress this time) and if it a dress I can wear again all the better. My first wedding dress is still sitting in top of my wardrobe as well, I never even got around to getting it cleaned.

Hi All Claire your diet sounds good. Kind of like weight watchers. I only find mine easy because I find it hard to cook for one and with working twelve hours most days, I don't have the time to cook properly, so once a day is grand. I usually cook the night before for the next day. Nic I must look up that website. It sounds good. Your wedding sounds lovely. You still have lots of time to get a dress, and the summer sales will be coming up. Megan's right there are some lovely dresses in Monsoon, and they could be worn again. At the rate I'm going don't think there will be a 2nd time around for me!!! LOL Angie we'll have to have a divorce party!! LOL.

Back to the subject of films. I saw P.S I love you yesterday and thought it was awful. The Oirish accents really put me off and for the first time ever I found Hilary Swank irrating. I even contemplated walking out! There were a couple of really good lines though ; My favourite one was 'Many of us are alone, but we can be together in our aloneness.' I didn't enjoy much of the book either so it is no surprise that the film didn't do it for me. Just thought, I'd give it a go.
But one film I really did enjoy recently was Penelope. It is about a girl who is cursed with the face of a pig. The curse will only be lifted when she is accepted and loved is by one of her own. I found it inspirational, and I have a soft spot for James McEvoy, who is the male lead.

I really enjoyed Ps I love you but the accents didn't bother me at all. I think living away from home makes me hear the accents different, sometimes people do sound like that to me now. I also thought that there was some great dialog in the movie, some great lines. Sorry you didn't like it

LOL Claire, I was in London only for two days and when I landed back in Dublin airport it was so strange the way I clued into the Irish accent! I felt myself cringing! I thought to myself - I couldn't possibly speak like that I used to hate what I thought were phony Irish accents in films but in fact that's actually how we sound I'm sorry you didn't like the film Megan. I'm looking forward to seeing it now. There's so many mixed reviews. One things for sure I don't think there will be any Oscars handed out for this performance ;D I'd love to know how the writer's of books that make it to the big screen feel about the dodgy acting in the films.

Hi there,
I went to see P S I love You here in Germany. Really enjoyed it. I missed one or two of the lines but I have to say I thought it had great heart (maybe it's because I'm away from Ireland). I brought himself who is a bit of an Ireland freak and he enjoyed it too. Somehow I felt very energized after it and have been writing loads since. I bought the book in German but only managed the first chapter. Language difficulties.
Regards
Bonnie
