Hi,
Anyone know when the results of this will be announced? One of the RTE websites says March 26th (?) and the other says 'April'

It's good to have a definite date! At least we will be put out of the misery of waiting then, whether it be positive or negative! I'm sure there were loads and loads of talented entries for the competition. Fair play to them for getting the judging done reasonably fast!

It's getting close now. Do you think they will contact the winners before Friday or just announce them on the show? Will anyone see it? I will be at work.

Hmm! I would think they will have to contact the winner first before announcing it on the show....but I could be wrong. I didn't see many of the shows, so I don't know much about it all apart from what is on the website. I won't see it anyway on Friday. If any of you guys win, you must post it up here straight away!!! Good luck to everyone!

I just re-read the rules there Megan on the RTE website: 6. Correspondence will only be entered into with winning entries. That would suggest to me that the winner and the people whose stories will be included in the book will be notified before Friday - they could even have been told by now. Boo! I feel the hope slipping away!

I guess so. I'm not too confident, but not to worry - it was good experience to have to write a short story that was so long!

I heard on the news this evening that Seoige and O'Shea finishes up this Friday for the summer and that RTE has not commited to running the show again so it may not continue in the autumn. That would be a shame for the launch of this book of short stories, as I imagine the show would have given it a lot of publicity.
I've still heard nothing. My hopes are beginning to dwindle.

That's a shame - I thought it was doing ok in the ratings. They might keep it on yet though.
My last vestige of hope evaporated this evening too when I came home to an empty postbox! :-) I'm sure they have told whoever won by now. Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Am waiting for Seoige and O'Shea to come on now as I missed it yesterday evening! I think we can probably assume that we haven't made the final fourteen at this stage! Its such a pity - even I hadn't made it myself I hoped that one of the other Irish girls would! Ah well it was good experience if nothing else!

I'm not surprised really the show mightn't be back. There was something a bit drab about it. It was missing a bit of sparkle.

Have to agree with you there Susan. I thought it was very stilted the few times that I watched it.

I've often wondered if having The Afternoon Show and Seoige and O'Shea on back-to-back is too much, but having said that, I've enjoyed both shows on the rare occasions when I've been around to watch them.

I heard on the news this evening that Seoige and O'Shea finishes up this Friday for the summer I wonder are they going to make a big thing of the 'Do The Write Thing' competition seeing as it is the last day? I also wonder if the person who wins will be on the show? It doesn't specify on the RTE site that they will. If anyone sees it on Friday anyway, you must let us know about it! It will be an interesting book when it is released.

Maybe so. I actually rather the afternoon show. I'd say its quite difficult to try and put a good show on TV before the watershed. You have to be careful of all your P's and Q's and who you have on the show. I think Grainne and Joe would be more suited to a Current Affairs programme. They both seem serious characters.

Did you see Joe on Podge and Rodge? Thought he was quite uptight, and didn't seem to have much of a sense of humour. And they kept showing clips of Grainne throwing dagger looks at him - it was very funny! But I'd say Joe was terrified of saying the wrong thing!

I don't think either of their personalities complement one another. I didn't see him on Podge and Rodge but I heard about it. Apparently not a good sport at all. I don't know why certain people go on that show when the know quite well what P & R are all about. Your asking for trouble!

Hey Girls, I've had a postive thought. Perhaps no one has heard from the show yet and they will announce the winners on Friday. They've not had much time to correct short stories of that length and they could be working around the clock trying to pick fourteen by the deadline. I have to say I will be surprised if none of us get a place, I mean we're pretty good writers!!!

Hopefully you're right Megan! It would be nice to see a few successful entries from this site.
I wonder how many entries they had overall? If anyone is watching on Friday and they mention this, can you let us know please?
This has been worse than waiting for exam results, LOL!

Shirley, when it came near the final day for the deadline they said on the show that the entries were arriving in by the hundred!
