Hi Hannah, Hope all's well with you, I'm really looking forward to the movie, I need a good belly laugh!! Thanks a million. Will let you know tomorrow when I collect it from the post office. I've a mobile internet connection and it's really bad tonight, don't know if it's the weather or what!! But it's taking me ages going from one thread to another, I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs in between!! It's a bit frustrating so apologies if I don't stay on too long.

We had a rain thunder lighting and hailstone afternoon! It started here at about 5pm and lasted till about 7pm, not too bad compared to other parts of the country. In some places the hailstones were as big a golf balls and stripped the trees as they were falling. They had rivers of ice flowing. Our street flooded but we had nothing in the house, thank God. One house not far from us got hit by lightening and was burnt out. It seemed to be over as quick as it started

Claire that sounds a terrifying experience..hail that size could be potentially very dangerous. Are they that severe often where you are?

Ryan is not too far from home, they are staying a a farm renovated for group accommodation, doing loads of things and a lot of cycling. They went on their bikes, about an hour and a half cycling to the place. Loads of games, getting to know their way in the forest, survival trip, wall climbing, swimming and a to Maastricht for the day.

It's something of tradition here in Holland that at the end of primary school they go of to 'camp'. The man that lives across from me cooks for them, does it every year, said that one of the girls fell asleep last night over dinner, she was so tired! No news is good news as they say, so I am sure Ryan is having a ball. This morning mind we woke up to thunder storms, hope they had some dry patches while cycling. Today it was to a musem and to some caves

Claire is that weather normal for your time of the year there? Seasonally (although its all upside down these days) August in Austrlalia in 'some' parts of the lower end states Sydney Melbourne South Australia at least, is the 'windy' months...October used to be predicatably the rainy months, must say these days its a lucky dip any months, weathers all gone to pot here lately, Queensland's had terrible storms, floooding and so much rain than normal - yet there are still parts of it (its quite big) in drought??? Crazy eh!
Hope the children have sound shelter anyway if the storms continue, are you able to phone by mobile if there was any concern?

The kids are in a great shelter! it's an old farmhouse renovated for this purpose. I think it is a protected building, very old and they are sleeping in dormitories like a hostel. There is also a kitchen to make their own meals and a large dining room and of course bathrooms with showers. It has loads of fields around for games and things, lovely place. And if need be the school is in contact everyday but the kids were not allowed to bring any moblies

Sounds like a great place for kids Claire, I hope that you all enjoy your Summer. We had a lot of thunder here in Tipp too, very unusual. We so rarely get thunder & lightening.

yesterday it was really something. It got dark at around 5pm and all we could hear was the rumbling of thunder. Then came the flashes!! My God they light up the house. Big fat bright flashed and then the crack when they hit something, like something from a horror movie. It hasn't stopped rainging since but it is light rain not as heavy as the last time, and it is still very warm

Ooh Claire that sounds scary. I hate when there's thunder and lightening when I'm on my own. It's beautiful to watch but when I'm on my own in the house all the scary films I ever saw come into my mind. I'm a right scardy cat!!! LOL

Fran ...I watched the one Linda Blair was in...all those years ago ..can't even bring myself to name it..am sure you know the one I mean...well that was when I was 17...it cured me of wanting to watch any scary movie since!!! I know what you mean about thunder and lightening when your alone and bringing back memories of films that scare the pants off us!
