I've just googles it and read it was filmed on the isle of Man Claire you must hire it on DVD/Video....its HILARIOUS!..then you'll understand about the 'nude beach'...oh my god, the first time I saw it, and I watch it regularly I just laughed all the way through it, its a typical Irish cack of a movie - then ending is perfect!..... Haven't heard of Agnes Brown Jacqui, will look it up on line now - unfortunatley the DVD Hire shops are dictated to the Hollywood crappy ones, in my opinon, there just the same ole same ole...not enough Irish movies out here...I will see if I can get them to order it in, or, by some miracle they just might have it! ;D xox

Hannah, I didn't see that movie either, but I think that I saw an advertisment for it. Is it about a guy winning the lottery? I must watch out for it. It's gas the way that the movies work. I have a friend in Dublin who who gets a lot of parts as extras in movies and dramas. He was in a few recently where the filming was done here in Ireland but the movies were actually about places in England, and then some Irish films that are supposed to be about Ireland are actually filmed in other countries. So in the movie you are not really seeing the real place a lot of the time. I wonder why they do that?

Fran from the little I know about why 'locations' aren't true to the country's origin, I 'think' from intuitiveness its a lot to do with if their in a particualar town, how much of the town will be affected with accomodating the crew/actors, catering to their needs, insurance, light/sun for scenes, seasons, weather, the commitments of the actors/directors that may need to hop on a plane and be back overnight, there'd be all kinds of reasons, especially the privacy side of it, or if it would affect the trade of the local towns (traffic), if the town is big enough to put them all concerned up etc etc.
Yes its the one about winning the Lottery! Oh its soooo good, the two lead characters will have you wettin your pants! Good actors well known ones. I can send you my copy from over here, and then you can just pass it around to who ever you like - especially maybe pass it on to Claire if she's not able to get it???
Just pm an address if your not able to get it, or if anyone wants it I'll send it over, mails quite cheap from this end, especially for something so light and small.
I'll hear you laughing over hear Claire & Franmt...!

Thanks a million Hannah. That would be great, it sounds brill. Just what the doctor ordered, there's nothing like a good laugh. I never thought about that about the film locations. It makes sense now.

I love the part also when, don't want to give much away for the others here, but you'll mind what Im saying....'was it a small ask Jackie...no...not at all, your having dinner with er''....LLLLOOLLL the look on the his face is PRICELESS!!! hannah xox

Susan, over here, its a bit like a lack of Irish authors on the shelf that SHOULD be here, same with DVD's only a very few Irish ones, comedy especially are to be found, you'll have all catch me up to day with ones I dont know exist. Feck I'd be just happy to see re-runs of Father Ted here on TV...'Keeping Up Appearances' I ADORE her ....god, imagine being married to Hyacinth...!!!! Mind you, times here I've been called by that name by hubby!!! 'perfectionist'...never mind, the writing is knocking that outta of me, feck being a slave to the house is sh*te. hannah xox

I think we all know a Mrs Bucket. I live next door to one. I got Hein the Father Ted Collection of dvd's and he loves them. I have The Commitments, one of my favorite films, love it. And I bought another irish film but haven't looked at it yet, The Wind That Shakes The barley. I found a shop that sells the more unusual dvds, ones that you don't find in the other shops

Hi Girls, I watched some re runs of Mrs Bucket over the weekend. I think she's hilarious. You are right Claire, we do all know a Mrs Bucket. We had one in an apartment block were we lived in Dublin. This girl was hilarious. She even sounded like Mrs Bucket. We all had to share a pay phone at the time (years ago before mobiles) and she used to answer the phone with that really posh voice, and she was so like Mrs Bucket in her manner that it was uncanny. We actually all used to run when we saw her coming!! LOL I love that programme. Hannah I am really looking forward to seeing Waking Ned Divine. As soon as I have watched it I will pass it on. So Girls let me know who wants to see it?

Fran the parcel shouldn't be far away now...oh you've wet my appetitie for some Mrs Bucket..oh she never fails to lift me up. I'd LOVE her living up the road...ha ha take up me plastic mug and have coffee with her!!! The funniest one for me was that time she had to climb over that back fence, keeping Liz in the car, making out the home she went into was her 'in laws' ROFL..OHHHH....the look on the people's faces out the window that did own the house, PRICELESS!!!!!

Fran I've seen ALL of the series, about a thousand times .. yes the sailing one was also hilarious ... poor Emmet is terrified of her LOL!!!! I love the inlaws, her sisters and god I can't think of the brother-in-laws name, mental block here!!! See that Christmas Special where Richard and Emmet get legless next door and poor Liz has to dress up as Santa Claus -unbeknown to Hyacinth - they stop on the way to the church hall and a guy thinking Liz is Richard notice through the car window 'lacey' things as the santa outfit falls to one side ...ach laughing here, then Hyacinth pipes up about 'supper' at her house later leaving the poor guy dumbfounded thinking their all a bit kinky!!!!!
LOVE HER!!!
