Was Patrick based on anyone you knew, or purely a product of your imagination? I liked him! So if you know a Patrick, send him my way - or bring him to the Readers' Day!!! :-)

I wanted to reach in and give emaily another big hug when she was throwing her tantrum for not getting her (was it Silver) star, especially when she didn't get it because she was too slow and had stopped to help another girl. I could have hugged Claire too for support, it must be terrible having to try and calm down a child in the middle of their tantrum.

When it came to Lucy, I didn't warm to her, but I could see why she was the way she was. I loved the first scene between her and Patrick. I also love how a lot of Susanne's characters are feisty and able to stand up for themselves. Although I could have killed Claire when she let the French guy have his wicked way with her when he turned up at her flat unexpectedly!

Lol Oonagh, that rythms. < sorry it was shirley talking about patrick character up the top there> sorry Oonagh and Shirley
I don't know what to think of Patricks character, i don't know if I disliked him, feel sorry for him, or feel good that he is trying to bring up tiffany and so far she hasn't turned out as bad as she looks. The more I thought about his character the more undecided I became. I guess he's got some good quaitites and some bad, like all of us.

I can't remember the lucy, patrick ending, which one of them dragged the other to get married knowing they never get it done if one of them didn't do something drastic?

I thought the ending was great, it was all put togther so well, if finished off and didn't really leave any questions unanswered.
I also like Claire and Bernard having the disagreement over christmas cards, it kinda showed that everything wasn't all roses and sunshine but they were happy and it really was a realistic happy ever after ending.

Hi everyone.
Sorry i'm so late but Hein was very late home from work and then had to do work on here, and, and, and.....he couldn't get it done any quicker.
Loved the book, great fun to read. I could never understand why people would play to go to a place where you could freeze to death! brrrr. Sun holidays yes but not the cold. Susanne you made me want to go there feel it for myself and touch the 'fresh powder'on the slopes. It sounded heavenly! But not the warm wine, what do you called it again, hate the stuff!

There were a lot of funny moments in the book and I loved Emilie, great one liners and oh so honest, just like kids. The freezer was a good one with all the food hiding.
Lucy was a funny one but Claire was no angel either. That she let men walk over her like that made me want to shake her

It's probably surprising how many people don't actually know how to cook, but at the time I thought surely someone knows what to do it not that hard. Can't say I know of anybody that can't cook at least something. But I'd imagine in the cities where everybody works late and there is a takeaway shop on every corner and their kitchen are so tiny with not enough room to turn around in people might eat out that often and not know how to cook even the basic of meals.

My sister can't cook, she even burns water! My father is a chef so you'd think we'd all be able to cook, but no we were never let in his kitchen. My father did all the cooking in the house and my mother all the DIY
I'm not too bad myself, but have also had a few disaters

I thought the reference at the start to Claire as a teacher telling a studnet not to be smart and the students parent taking it the wrong way was a good example of how easily we can be misunderstood and how confussing our language can be sometimes.

that was very well explained, and the one about being 'bold'as in brave and not bad behaviour. Another one is cute, meaning lovely but in Ireland can mean sly
