I'm not very good at reviews but I'll try.
This is a story of five sisters (Juliet, Miranda, Eliza, Sadie and Clemintine) Their father, their decesed mother and a niece(Maggie).
The story starts when the girls are in thier late teens and early 20's. They are all still living with thier father and thier mother died eight years earlier. The youngest (Clemintine) breaks the news that she is pregnant and they all make a pact to stay at home and help with Maggie until she starts school.
Sadie decides she doesn't want to continue her studies so says she will look after Maggie so Clemintine can continue her studies. This works out well for everyone. When Maggie turns five and is ready to start school everyone has decided to go their own way and move away. Clemintine has a chance to go away to research birds so organises that while she is away Maggie will go and stay with each of her aunts. Her first time away something tragic happens that has an affect on the whole family causing one member to run away.
This story then continues on when maggie has grown up and in her mid 20's. Her Granfather is trying to bring the whole family back together again and he asks Maggie to help but she soons finds out things about her family that she really didn't want to know.
This started out a bit slowly which was abit dissapointing as I love Monica's books. but then it really picked up pace towards the end of the first part. From then on the book hardly left my hands. I just had to keep reading to see what happened. this book did have a happy ending although it wasn't what I expected, and it did leave me wanting more.
I recommend this book to everyone.
