Oh my God girls I have not been able to put this down - it is the funniest book and holds such a brilliant account of family life! Niamh Greene absolutely rocks and I will tell her that when I see her at the reader's day!
Meet Susie Hunt (ex PR girl about town), her husband Joe, children Katie and Jack - Susie has the same trials and tribulations as the rest of us - she has a flutuating 'jelly belly', a baby who won't sleep and won't adhere to any of the suggestions that Susie gets from the internet or from her parenting guides and a demon four year old who has the art of manipulation down to a tee. Of course her husband appreciates none of her efforts and her mother-in-law has made it her life's work to inspect the house for dust every time she visits!
Please girls do yourselves a favour and get this book! It will make you laugh out loud!

Hiya, I reviewed this for a magazine up North. Now I did really enjoy it and think Niamh Greene captured everything about the SAHM life perfectly, but there were times when I wanted to give Suzie a good shake. (I thought she was a bit harsh on her friend and her hubby)- but then I think Niamh Greene wanted me to react that way. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what Niamh will do next.

I'm halfway through and finding it a bit boring, to be honest. I feel like I've read it all before. And where's the plot? What is the conflict? Where is the character development? If there is one, it's a long time coming.

Oh flip Katie I really have to disagree with you on this one! I thoroughly enjoyed this book because I thought the way that it was layed out and written was so different! I loved the style of writing and think that the plot is quite evident! I'm really looking forward to her next book!

Well we'd be a strange lot if we all liked the same books, that's for sure. But where's the plot? She dithers around with kids' parties, phone calls to her VBF (or not) and has a secret crush but nothing happens. Dull-a-rooney.
(The bit about the kids getting sick all over the house made me laugh out loud though.)

All of the above are the plot I think! It's what most mammy's do to be fair and I think her descriptions and traumas with her weight, her wardrobe and her mother in law all add to the plot! The difficulties with her daughter and her son are also hilarious and I have to say that I really enjoyed it! Everyone is entited to their opinion as you say and I know that this might not be everyone's cup of tea but it def made me laugh - I couldn't put it down!
