This book is out now. It looks great.
Jane had always lived in somebody's shadow. Escaping a childhood of abuse by marrying oceanographer Oliver Jones, she finds herself taking second place to his increasingly successful career. However, when her daughter Rebecca is similarly treated, Jane's dramatic stand takes them all by surprise. Jane and Rebecca set out to drive across America to the sanctuary of the New England apple orchard where Jane's brother Joley works. Oliver, used to tracking male humpback whales across vast oceans, now has the task of tracking his wife across a continent. To do so he must learn to see the world - and even himself - through her eyes...

I was at a talk with Jodi Picoult in late Spring and I heard that this is the first novel she wrote, before all her best sellers. It wasn't published back then. It will be interesting to read.

I read it last yr some time and didn't like it at all. I can't remember to much about it but I just rmrember struggling through it n found it was a waste of my time. I usually love Jodi's books, I think that's y I kept reading, but this one just didn't do it for me.

I have to say I agree with Nicc. After reading My Sister's Keeper I then went on Ebay and Amazon and got hold of and read all of Jodi's previous novels.
This one to me was the worst of the bunch and I really could not get into it, so much so that I gave up in the end.
The one I have liked the best to date is Plain Truth based around the Amish community, followed a close second by The Pact.

Oh, that's very interesting to hear. Perhaps that is why this first book was not published earlier. It's good to hear your opinions on it. I will check it out and see what I think. It will be interesting to see how her writing has changed and improved since then.

Plain Truth would have to be my favourite also. If any of my friends wants to try her for the first time this is the book I lend them. i haven't read all of hers yet though, but of course I do have them, which would be no surprise to anyone on here lol

I think I'll pass on this book. It doesn't sound too promising. Did anyone read ? Circle. Sorry I can't think of the full title.

The Tenth Circle, Susan. No I haven't read it. I loved Plain Truth too, Keeping Faith was good and Nineteen minutes was a great read.

Thats the one. I read a bit of 'The Pact' and gave up. I thought it was very heavy going.

I read the Tenth Circle and thought it was my least favourite of her books. This ones sounds good although by your reviews I might give it a miss or at least wait until its out in paperback
