Make sure to read Roisin Meaney's third book - The Last Week of May.
It's an excellent read, (and I'm not saying that just because Roisin's my friend.) It's currently number one in the bestsellers list, and surely all those discerning buyers can't be wrong?
May O’ Callaghan wants to change her predictable life – and find love. When unexpectedly she leaves her nine-to-five job, everyone thinks she has finally lost the plot. But she has a plan, and soon the offers start flooding in for her new career as gardener, painter, window-cleaner and dog-walker extraordinaire. And soon May discovers she has a lot more than overgrown lawns to deal with . . . There’s happily married Pam and her husband Jack – but why is Pam terrified to tell Jack that she’s pregnant? And then there’s Shaun and Bernard, May’s next-door neighbours, oblivious to the deadly threat that lurks close by. And Paddy, who employs May to do his garden. Although they never actually met, he’s admired her from a distance – so what’s stopping him from approaching her? And Paul, three doors up, who has yet to learn that there’s a price to pay for having something that shouldn’t be yours. And then there’s that handsome stranger May keeps bumping into – there’s something about him she just can’t shake off . . . On one warm week in early summer, all is about to change for the inhabitants of Kilpatrick. And May is to discover that while only love can break your heart, only love can piece it back together.
