Beautiful Rosie Kiely presumes that one day she will fall in love, marry and live happily ever after. Until she does, she enjoys a stream of handsome boyfriends whom she treats carelessly but, when her careless treatment of latest boyfriend, Mark, leads to tragedy, she begins to ask herself some questions. Is she – Rosie – even capable of falling in love? Does true love really exist? Or is love just a myth we all buy into? In a bid to find out, Rosie begins nosing into the romantic affairs of those closest to her: her parents who’s marriage has survived through thick and thin; her work colleague Fay and the man who hurt her so badly all those years ago; her childhood friend Shane and his girlfriend Laura who’s bond is unfathomable to Rosie; her friends Caroline and Shane – imminently unsuitable but who’re increasingly drawn to one another; and her friend Dana who falls for the monosyllabic Doug. Violence, infidelity, lust, but friendship and loyalty too – Rosie finds is a whole lot more than she expected for love – like life – can be a messy business with a habit of making fools of us all as Rosie – self-appointed love detective – discovers. And when Rosie does find her own true love, does she realise her good fortune? And is she now ready to grab it with both hands?

Hi there, yep i did write Who Will Love Polly Odlum? and a couple in between. And now The Love Detective. Though i've been logging on from time to time this is my first posting. I'm in the middle of moving from dublin to cork and decided to launch The Love Detective - in eason's on patrick's street this coming friday (the 18th) at 6.00 so if anyone is interested in coming along - they'd be most welcome. it's shaping up to be a good night. i'll be posting a link to my website in the next day or two, i'm just the site updating this evening.

Welcome Annie. I just checked out your website and liked it! I think I met you with Catherine Daly at the Christmas Reading evening with Irish Pen last November. You were trying to think up what to write for an article the next day but you didn't seem too flapped about it!

hi megan i do remember you from that night, and your memory is probably correct and i probably was trying to think of something to write in my column - i seem to spend half my life trying to think of something to write (and the rest putting off sitting down and actually doing it!). nice to talk to you again. oonagh, so you're from cork. I'm in the middle of moving back to there after seven years away which was the reason why i had the launch down south. i'm looking forward to the move. who knows, we may bump into one another some time. The launch went very well. it was a great chance to meet with so many people at once - a lot of friends who i hadn't see in a while came which was fantastic. i had a ball of a night. And Mary, thank you for coming - it was lovely to meet you face to face.

Just visited your site, Anne Marie - loved it! I remember looking on the net to see if you had a website after I read Something Sensational - great to see your site is up and running. I loved hearing that you went camping in Europe for 3 months with your daughters and hubby - hearing that gives me hope of doing things like that after I have kids, as that is exactly the kind of thing I'd like to do (but at the same time, you never really hear of anyone doing it!). Fair play to you!

Canada was very hot, Oonagh! They were having a heat wave, so it was even hotter than usual. On the day of the wedding, it was 40 degrees! I pitied the poor bride, who was wearing a very elaborate gown which must have weighed a ton. I nearly melted and had to stand in the shade for the photographs, drinking water out of a bottle, so it looks a little strange. But the reception was in a hotel which was air conditioned, so we had a great evening. We did a little sight seeing and saw some wonderful places, including an island in Lake Ontario, where they grow wine. We went into the winery and in the office met a girl wo worked there asking us where we came from. When we said 'Ireland' she nearly burst into tears and said she was from Ireland too. It turned out she was from Cappawhite in Tipperary, not far from where we live. It's a very small world!
