This book has just arrived in the door. I'm sitting here in the middle of Katie's story 'The Essential Ingredients'. It's a terrific read. Look forward to reading more.

Yes, I loved your story, Katie! Well done. Actually all of the stories are excellent. A brilliant read.

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate your comments.
I'm going to get the local papers to feature it and perhaps Kildare FM arts show. Any other suggestions for (low key) publicity? Especially as it's in such a good cause (National Breast Cancer Research Institute)

It takes a lot to bring a tear to my eye but the character Marco reminded me of someone I know who's mother was once permanently out and about leaving the Grandmother to take care of the child. It's strange the way a story can bring back so much memories.
I'm still reading the stories. They are definitely the best collection of short stories I've read.

Thanks Susan,
I know a good few kids like that. Grannys can be a very important presence in a child's life. Perhaps it'll trigger a story from you now!

I tried to buy this book in Eason Blanche yesterday, but couldn't see it anywhere in the new releases - I was going to ask someone about it, but the store was really busy and nobody was available, and then I got a bit of a funny turn which meant I had to run!! That was my first time at the shops in weeks. If I am in the city centre next week, I'll pick it up somewhere.

I had a similar experience on Friday Shirley - I couldn't see it in my local Eason's either - ended up buying Shopaholic and Sister instead - because obv you can't leave Eason's empty handed!!!
Where did the rest of you get your copies from - did you order them from the internet or buy it in the shops?

Fionn or Shirley I'll pass mine onto you if you want. Whoever wants it first just say the word!
I had a quick look around the shops and couldn't see it at all so I had to order it through Poolbeg. I'd say I paid double the amount it is in the shops - with postage and packaging etc.

That's worrying. I'll fire a question to Poolbeg...I don't know how these things work.
There was a review of it in the Limerick Post. They have great taste in Limerick! But not much point if people can't buy a copy easily.

Normally I would snap up your offer of a lend of this Susan but on this occasion I'd feel a bit mean as the proceeds are for charity - but thanx a million for the offer!
It would be great if you could find out what's going on Katie - maybe you should be looking on the bright side perhaps we can't get any cause they're all sold out!!

OK. I went into Easons in Liffey Valley and asked and the nice lad and we found some copies. It's on the literature shelf! Along with Macbeth and the Writers and Artists Yearbook. I think because it's an anthology of writing. No one will find it there. I think it should be in the New Irish Writing bit at the front. Especially being Poolbeg.

Oh my God Katie that's mad! I certainly never would have found it there! It's not very good PR is it! Having said that though I remember when Thirty and Fabulous came out that it was promoted well and put at the front of the store?!

Susan, thank you so much for your offer, but like Fionn, I do like buying the books that are for charity. Really appreciate the offer though honey :-) I will take a look in the literature section in Eason Blanche at the weekend - I was checking out new releases! The chances of getting good sales would be much better if they just gave it a chance in the new releases section. Boo hiss.

Well I'm counting on your all to put a few copies on the newly released shelves! Honestly. I'll do the same for yours. We could start a network, country wide. All we need is Chick Power. Otherwise we're depending on the publishers paying, what was it? 10,000 to be at the front of the shop?
It was spotted in Easons in Newbridge on the top shelf in the just published section so it doesn't seem to be consistent.

I'm going to go to Eason's in Dungannon tomorrow and see what the craic is with it there - if I see it hiding I'll be pointing it out!

Well, I finally got to buy it today! I found it very easily in Eason on Talbot St. I had a quick look in Stephen's Green Hughes and Hughes but didn't see it. I wanted to point it out to somebody that I couldn't find it, but unfortunately, the queues were too long. Kate, I read your story first - it was excellent! Really original story and kept me turning the pages. I loved little Marco, and adored the idea of what he and his granny did at the end (don't want to say too much). I then read the winning story - enjoyed it, but I preferred yours Kate! Your style was a lot more polished. The winning story had a good plot, but I thought the "voice" wasn't particularly original, but yours was. Oh, and it was great to see the pic of you in the book! I have a mental image of you now, which is great!

I got this book yesterday in the post and yours was the first story I looked up. I really enjoyed it, the idea of baking a cake and finding out where all the ingredients came from and visiting the places was a great idea. A lovely story, I want to read more by you

God, Fionnuala, Easons Wholesale have loads of All You Need Is Love...the ISBN is 9780954491383 if you want to try them again! That's very annoying for me too!
