ok I'll start the thread here BELOW CONTAINS SPOILERS DO NOT READ IT WILL SPOIL THE BOOK IF NOT READWell I have mixed feelings on this book I did enjoy it it had all the things to keep you interested and turning the page I was trying to guess right from the start who was the father of Emma's baby, I thought it was Tara's partner [more on him in a mo] I thought it was Eric's baby, and the guessing really did my head in it could of been anyone or someone we hadnt yet met. Tara and Glenn I so didnt see that coming that Glenn was Tara's son in a way I didnt buy it not often have you heard someone call their mother by their first name and I just couldnt get my head around the fact that Glenn was Tara's son when lead to believe he was her partner it freaked me out a bit don't get me wrong very cleverly done but not sure I liked it. another thing about Tara which was a bit unbelivable was she hadnt had a realtionship since Jason whaen she was 17 don't think I have ever met a woman who had a first love and then never found happeness again. when Luke was intoduced into the book I knew Tara and him were going to get together even when I thought Tata and Glenn were an item I thought they would finish somehow and Tara end up with Luke. Liz and Eric I liked Liz but again I couldnt see how you could have a toddler and dog kennels I know how hard work kids and dogs are and just could not visualize it. As for Eric it was sad that he couldnt talk to Liz about his job and why meet Emma his ex ?if I was Liz I would of been mortified if my hubbie could talk so well with his ex and not me I don't think there would be much of a realtionship left to be honest if he can't tell you about losing his job well what hope is there. Natalie I liked Natalie thats one thing about this book I liked all the female characters. I liked her from the start and I was glad she found happeness in the end it was a shame Jay happened to be Tara's ex but I'm glad they didnt end their relationship because of it. I think I sound all negitive and I'm not I really did enjoy reading this book the great thing about Melissa's books are the twists and maybe I'm being to picky

SPOILERS AGAIN (just in case you're looking at this from the last 10 posts)
Really good to hear your thoughts Charlie! One thing I deffo agree with you on is the Liz and Eric situation. I thought his "secret life" was a bit hard to swallow. Plus Liz was presented as a very reasonable woman, someone who would be accepting of her husband losing his job. It didn't ring true to a certain extent.

Thanks for that, Charlie. I won't be reading the book anyway but I am always interested to hear why people like and don't like books. Sound like this one was a bit far fetched in places.

I knew there was something not quite right about their relationship, but didn't guess the truth of it. At the same time, it came as no surprise when I read what it really was - you know that kind of way? I think with MH books now, I'm so anxious to find the twist that I don't read the book for what it is - in a way, I'd love to pick up one of her books without knowing that there is a twist in store!

I ddin't like Glenn at the beginning as I thought he came across selfish (typical male, really) especially when they were on hols. I wasn't very impressed that he left Tara all the time to go scuba diving, but it made sense in the end. And it also had me baffled when Liz was upset when she thought Eric was cheating but then she was encouraging Tara to hook up with Luke. I really liked Luke though. Also if I was in Liz's position and Andrew lost his job but couldn't talk to me about it but could talk to his X well I can say his bags would be packed quick smart (but then she is a sore point in our relationship anyway, but that is a different story).

Im finished this book a few minutes ago. It was rather boring to start off with. it did get good though half way. i was gobsmacked withy the whole thing on ATra and the son. I didnt like tara at all found her real boring to be honest. Oh just miss perfect. i warmed to Liz but i felt like slapping her on a numerous occassions to just have it out with Eric. Luke sounded gorgeous. Jay I didnt think alot but I loved Natalie I felt like slapping her too coming across all pushy on the other boyfriends us girls must play hard to get!!! It definetly wasnt her best book but good all the same!

I haven't read your comments yet on this book but I'm finding it tough going. I so far can't connect to any of the characters. Just as i start to like them something else happens that changes my mind for me. I will finish it though

Ok I didn't see it coming that Glenn was Taras son, I was gobsmacked. But then it made some sense. Tare may not have found happiness in the 17 years but she did mention that there were dates. Emma, Tara's sister annoied the hell out of me, I wanted to give her a good shake and her 'poor me' God she got on my nerves! It took me a long time to get into it and It was nearer the end when it started to get interesting. But I never connected with any of the characters as I do in most books. If I had lost the book I won't have been bothered about getting another. And yes I will read another Melissa book

I don't intend reading this book unless I stumble on it along the way...but I had to laugh at some of your views on this book. Without reading it at all, some of the characters sound like members of my family....we have an 18yr old in our family who calls his mum by her name as he doesn't think she deserves to be called mum....also have a member in the family who talks to his ex more than his wife...I could go on and on but won't....sounds like a real life lot to me!!

Guys I loved this book, read it in 2 sittings over the weekend and enjoyed every bit. Could totally relate to Glenn not calling Tara 'mum' as my daughter has always called me 'Eve' from the off! Loved Tara and thought she was strong and likeable, and actually loved all the women in it except of course for Emma who was awful as she was meant to be. Anyhow, always love a MH book!

One can't help but wonder whether or not Ms Hill is having a bit of fun, trying to shake her lazier-minded fans up a bit more than usual.
Hmmmmm don't think much of that why? why? why? should we be described as having lazy minds!!

Susanne, take no notice! Finding Margo is highly entertaining - and in its own way very unique the way you plotted it out! So you hold your head up high and remember all the good reviews (including my very honest 5 star one!). You're a fine writer! go girl.

I read it as mostly a good review. Especially the bit about shaking readers up a bit (obviously not us!) Who would want to read something that was completely without a bit of a shake? Plus she said it was endearing ( i think) Sometimes the reviewers just look for something to argue about. Anyway, isn't any review good for publicity? I'm sure it is. The recognition factor. In day or two people will remember the title and book cover but not that the review said a couple of niggley things.

Thank you sooo much Katie !
You're probably right, but as an author I suppose I am ultra sensitive and any critisism (especially of the snooty kind) hurts because a novel represents a lot of hard work and my writing is so precious to me. My novel is like my child and I write from my heart, so if anyone sneers at it, they sneer at my heart ( and my child).
Thanks Claire for that lovely review!
By the way, Mary, my niece is now one of your fans and is eagerly awaiting your next book! I am going to request a signed copy especially for her.

thanks, Susanne. And I know exactly how you feel! Having our work cricised hurts, no matter how much we say it doesn't.....

The part where Glen is revealed to be Tara's son really knocked me for six. Even for one of Melissa's books it was a huge twist. Another satisfied costomer!
