PEBBLE COVE - Mairead O'Driscoll Pebble Cove is the last word in elegant living, a development of four exclusive detached residences overlooking the spectacular views of Cork Harbour. Designed by renowned architect, Charlie Moorhouse, the houses are built by Daniel Colton, who hands over the palatial show-house to his daughter. Possessively infatuated with Charlie, Linda has great expectations for their personal and professional future. Striving to break into the male-dominated world of property development and eager for any alliance that will strengthen her social position, she has high hopes that her new neighbours will bring added status to her prestigious address. Financiers Marcus and Deirdre Fleming are shocked to find that the secure cocoon of their luxury lifestyle is shattered by the premature birth of their son, Alex. Coming to terms with the terrifying prospect of physical and intellectual disability, they endeavour to cope with the challenges of the extraordinary journey on which they are forced to embark. Shay Deegan takes his lavish lifestyle for granted, partying hard to the detriment of his career as a rising accountant. Life is glorious until Ken, his best friend and party animal extraordinaire, takes one chance too many. Shay struggles to finally come of age amid tragedy and hopelessness but will he survive the transition? Fiesty neonatal nurse, Amy Harkin stretches her resources to the limit to invest in her dream home. Unexpectedly, both love and tragedy strike simultaneously, leaving Amy wondering if her idyllic future is already over. The journey towards personal fulfilment is a perilous one, yet the residents of Pebble Cove face it with varying degrees of strength, determination, faith and sheer grit. But does anyone know what really happens behind closed doors?

I'm totally into this book now. Shay is the person I'm finding the most interesting - the chapter when he and his friend went out clubbing was gripping!!

Hi Marisa, Thanks a million for the great review - I put a message on the General Board (country bookstores thread) for you on July 14th so you might come across it! I got loads of feedback about the Sunday World review so I was thrilled. The second book has just come out in the shops this week so I'm a bit of a nervous wreck but I suppose that's par for the course! Thanks again, Marisa, Hope to meet you in person sometime, Bye for now, Mairead PS I tried to get a personal message up but failed miserably!

Mairead, I thought you would like to know that your book Pebble Cove is sailing around the Mediterranean as we speak. I gave the book to my mother when I finished it and she brought it on her cruise holiday. When books are finished they are (sometimes) put into the on board library, people take them out and bring them back when finished. She saw three other women reading while on the trip.
She loved the book, said it was a real easy story to get into and would love to read more of your books!

Hi Claire, You really do know how to say all the right things, girl!!! I'm delighted to hear that Pebble Cove is on a cruise - wish it's author was! Many thanks to your mum for putting it into circulation - it's all these things that count in getting the book off the ground so I'm really grateful. Thanks again, Claire, All the best, Mairead

Mairead, there is an age limit to this site! I believe you have to 13 or older to get on so that could be part of the problem
