Hi Colette Would have loved to have joined you for the interview but I can't get access to the internet at home . Loved all your books. I just wanted to ask why you don't put acknowledegments on the front of your books. I love reading those and yours always stand out cos you don't include them. Hope I'm not being cheeky! Thanks Amanda

Hi Amanda! I just stopped by to thank everyone for last night, it was great. Sorry you couldn't join us. To answer your question about acknowledgements: I had them in my first book because I got a lot of help from chefs and also because my editor had died half way through the book and I had to let everyone know that there wouldn't have been a book at all if it wasn't for her. Acknowledgements to me are something not to be done lightly. I would want to keep it short if I did it at all but I don't because I'm terrified that someone would be left out and hurt totally unintentionally. Maybe this is a thread you should put on the general board, Amanda. I'd be very interested to hear other opinions on it. Fraid I have to go now. I can't get on-line on my machine and I've just begged Hubby for the use of his for a few mins so I could come and say thanks. Bye for now, Colette C

Hi Colette, sorry I didnt get to log on the other night, I only saw too late that it was actually yourself doing the online interview. I have to say I am another huge fan of your writing. Ive read and have on one of my book shelves every one of your books. I Loved "changing Places" too, I gave it to my sister at the weekend to read. I think that was your best so far, I thoroughly enjoyed it anyway. A friend of mine was over with me the other night and she took "Forever Fm" home with her to take on Holiday. Its gas any of my mates that call into me ALWAYS end up taking a book home!! I should start my own library and start charging really!! LOL!!! The only negative thing I have to say Colette is that I wish you did a big hard back instead!! I read your soft backs wayyyyyy to quickly!! I try and pace myself to make it last a bit longer but I get so stuck in Ive got in read in a day or two!! Plus I love the look of the hardbacks! I always buy Binchy, Keyes, Kelly, Scanlon etc in Hardback when they come out first. Keep up the excellent writing Colette, I for one will always read your books anyway. take care, Lisa x

Hi Colette, thanks for the info about your books - turns out it's cheaper, and probably quicker, for me to order them from Poolbeg, so I've got a nice little basket going over there - so far it's got Changing Places, Charlotte's Way and Tracy Culleton's Loving Lucy in it. Because I've ordered from them a couple of times before, I've got a discount code as well, so I may be able to fit one more in before the postage goes up, if my Visa can take it! BTW, I really admire you Mums who manage to write books, or do anything requiring peace, quiet and concentration, when you have young kids in the house. I'm quite sure I would not have been able to do it with my two - hard enough to work with them at home now and they're "old" teenagers. Mind you, I can count on the mornings in the holidays most of the time - it's a case of me getting into trouble for making too much noise while they're trying to sleep!
