Yes Shirley. I was thrilled when I saw them . Weren't they great to come - especially since the timing was so awkward. 12.00 - 2.00.
Photographer from Echo- the Cork Evening paper took pics. Hoping to see them on tomorrow evening. I meant to bring camera but was so fussed before I left home I forgot. Maybe I should have another signing - on camera! Mary O S

If the pics are in the Echo and you have a scanner, it would be great to see them! We can tell you how to post them up here if you would like to do so. It'd be lovely to put a face to the name!

Shirley,
I'll see if I can do something with getting a picture on. I might cheat and put on a very old one - prime of youth type of thing!
Yeah Oons.
Sean is a great character. He's well pleased now because somebody asked him to sign a book too!

Never mind Oonagh. All's well that ends well!
Trouble is we all get our relationships in a knot from time to time. That's life - and fiction too.
Hope you're somewhere drier than Cork this week. It lashed here today. Talk soon Oonagh. Mary O S

I've noticed another book of yours Mary 'Parting Company', it looks another excellent read.

Hi susanmay, Parting Company was my first book. It meant a lot to me because the motivation behind writing it was that both my parents died from cancer. Having always escaped the harsher aspects of reality by reading and writing I decided to take the edge off this loss by inventing an imaginary cure for cancer. Of course I threw in the requisite number of affairs into the mix too! I still miss my parents- always will -but writing Parting Company helped me be grateful for the good times and to accept that I was lucky to have had both of them in my life.

Parting company sounds like an interesting book, Mary. I will look out for it.
I have also found writing a very good way to deal with losing someone - my grandmother. I wrote an entire novel inspired by her. Like you the process helped me be grateful for the many good times I had with her.

Hi Megan, what's the name of your novel inspired by your grandmother? I'd love to read it. I suppose every book has it's own individual inspiration but my second book ,As Easy As That , was totally inspired by fear! I signed a three book contract with Poolbeg when they accepted Parting Company . I had no idea if I could write one more book ,let alone two. So in sheer terror ,I sat at the computer and began typing frantically. Luckily , a book came together but I haven't managed to shake off the 'what have I got myself into' feeling yet! Mary O S

Hi Mary,
the name of that novel is 'Soul to Soul'. It's not published yet. I am at the 'just-got-an-agent' stage of the process and have not yet got a publisher. I'm hoping I will some day soon though!
The bonus of my situation is that, as yet, there is no pressure on me to write. No one is 'waiting' for anything from me. I'll try and get as much done as I can before someone is!

Hi Megan, what a fabulous title! There's an immediate sense of intimacy between reader and writer about it. Really looking forward to seeing it being published.
Aren't you the sensible one doing things the right way around! I got publisher first and am only thinking about agent now. Not advise I would give to anyone starting out . I'm busy trying to grow a very hard shell before I start on the agent trail ! Mary O S

Ah! Renate! What a heart warming emer. Thank you so much.
So glad you enjoyed the read and particularly pleased you liked the chacters. I grew to know them all so well over the course of writing the book that it's a great thrill when someone else likes them too.
My next book - Ebb And Flow - is due out next Jan. Much editing ahead before it hits the shelves!
Thanks again ,Renate. Mary O S
