Tina Reilly will need very little introduction to members of this forum!! Her books are all eagerly awaited and But did you all know that under the name Martina Murphy, Tina also writes for teenagers?
Tina's lastest adult book 'Wish Upon a Star' has just been released to a great reception, and I'm sure you're all dying to ask her all sorts of questions. But Tina tells me she's never been on a Forum before- so be gentle with her!!

I've never been around for one of these interviews so I'm looking forward to it and will think up some questions to ask!

Yes, it is briliant news that we will be chatting to Tina. I've just finished 'Something Borrowed' and really enjoyed it! I hope to read one of her teenage novels before the interview date!

I wont be here for the interview on Monday (debates and more debates in school) but i would have loved to have asked Tina a few questions. I guess the most important would be, what in your opinion, are publishers looking for, as far as teenage books go? I am trying to 'break' that market, but find myself stuck.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Tina, I'd like to ask you two things please:
1) Which character from all of your books is your favourite, or do you have a favourite? 2) In your opinion, do you think there is still a market for new Irish chick-lit writers, or do you think the market has become flooded at this stage? I know that's a hard question to answer, but I'd be really interested in your opinion on this as I know you have many years of experience in writing.
Congrats on the IMPAC nomination - I read 'Something Borrowed' and really enjoyed it.
Thanks in advance, Shirley

Hi Tina,
Welcome to the site when you arrive! I thought I'd get my questions in early so I as to make sure you see them before the evening is out!
I'd be very grateful if you answered the following: (I am trying to match Shirley's lovely manners above!) 1. When did you start writing and now long after that did you decide you wanted make a living from writing? 2. Once you'd decided that, how long did it take for you to get a publishing deal? 3. How long does it generally take you to write a book? 4.I know for 'Something Borrowed' you did research with the adoption board. I would love to hear about how you went about that research. Did you talk to people by phone or did you go and meet them? And how long did it take you to do the research? 5. I really liked the character of Ed in 'Something Borrowed.' and would love to know what was the inspiration for him! If possible!
thanks a million Tina!
Megan
thanks a lot Tina!

Hi Tina. This is Emma H , not logged in cos im at work.
I was wondering which you find more challenging and/or enjoyable - writing a novel or writing for the stage? I have written for the stage and am on a rewrite of my first novel that i have never sent off anywhere and am gearing up to do so.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance, Emma.

Hi Tina, welcome to the forum! It's not too bad here, the girls are fairly okay (Joke! Joke! - before they all hit me!)
my question is, how did you feel when you heard you had been nominated for the IMPAC award? What reactions did you get?
I'll be on later to read your answers!!
Hugs, Tracy

Hi Tina great to have you on line and thank you for doing this interview. I've read all your adult books and I love them I love the style you write. I wanted to ask do you read at all and if so who are your favourites? I would also like to know which one of your books did you enjoy writing the most? and last but not least are you working on your next novel?
Thank you Tina Charlene.

Just about to write the same thing Claire! I hope there hasn't been a muddle up on dates. I thought this was on Tuesday until yesterday when I suddenly copped on that tomorrow is Valentines day and Tina probably has more romantic things to be doing that evening than spending time with us!

Hi Tina.
I just finished reading Wish Upon A Star which was the first book of yours that I've read and I was hooked from the very first page. I'm now going to have to go out and buy your other ones. ;D
Anyway on to my questions -
- Where do you get your inspiration for your characters from? Do you ever base them on people that you know?
- How does it feel when you walk into a shop and see your book on the shelf?
