Hi Sarah, I love your books and just wanted to ask you one question. I'm just trying to write my own book at the moment. Do you have any advice about getting published and getting an agent? Should I finish my book first? I read somewhere you got your deal after sending in 3 chapters. Is that true? Thanks, Katie (Bristol)

Hi Katie, Sorry I haven't replied to your question - I only noticed it on the site today. As Clarie says, do sign up and join in the forums. There's one all about writing which you might find helpful. There's some useful info on getting published on my website www.sarahwebb.info and interviews with other writers on how they got published and how they write. It's true, I did get my book deal after sending Poolbeg 3 chapters (actually I think it was 5) and some notes. But that was a good few years ago and Irish women writers were on the crest of a wave. And also chick lit was just getting going in the UK. Things are different now so I'd advise you to keep writing. Finish your book and then concentrate on the publishing end of things. But put 100% into your writing before worrying about the business end of things. Best wishes, Sarah 'Take a Chance', published March 2006
