One thing I thought was funny in the book was when Noah came home and found Dara swanning around the house in a bridal dress when she was just going to be a bridesmaid for her friend Clodagh - I mean, hello! Mental! Anyone would think that was strange! I'm not sure how realistic that scene was though, but at least it was one you'd remember.

I saw the thread for it, but I thought that was one that just developed because people had read it and started commenting on it.

If you do read IYCSMN Shirley, I'd love to hear what you think about it! I really enjoyed it and would have to read it again if we were doing it for the book club because I think there is more I could get out of it a second time around!

good night Oonagh
the thread was started because some people found the book too hard to finish, boring, couldn't get into it. But some still wanted to comment and megan and emma had finished it and wanted to say what they thought of it hence the new thread

Something with wide straps, possibly a bodice and a skirt. I'd like the skirt to be fairly fitted and straight. I don't want anything loose or meringuey!

Oh that'd be cool if you don't mind Oons. Although I don't think Claire wants it after me!!!! Even if we aren't doing it for the bookclub, I'd be interested in reading it at this stage. Might as well.

White, ivory, champagne - I'm open really! Right girls, I shall head. I'm delighted that the connection stayed up for the bookclub though. We'll have to start thinking about our next one if it's not going to be IFCSMN so that we can all get it in time.

Oh give it a go Claire! I'd love to hear what you think of it! There are so many diverse opinions on this book! I've just read over the posts and see that I missed quite a few of them! I agree with you Susan, I much prefer Tracy Culleton's style of writing however I could have done without her 'happy ending' in 'More than Friends' as well. I would have prefered if the main character had remained single for a while instead of jumping into another relationship with that 'gay' guy David. ANd Shirley, I agree with you about the Poolbeg books. It seems to be mandatory to have a happy ending!

I just went to the Cecelia thread there and read it all. I'd only read from Megan's first comment down because sometimes I just read things in 'Last ten posts' and not the whole thread - the joys of sneaking peeks at work and not having consistent broadband access. Sorry for the confusion. Goodnight gals!

Sorry, sorry, sorry! i had a disrupted sleep last night and slept in, by the time I got up and Tianna and I had breakfast I was late getting on here.
Well it was ages ago that I read the book so things are a bit sketchy for me. I was dissappointed with this book from Melissa, I expected there to be a twist in there same as her previous novels and was dissappointed when there wasn't one. Rosie really frustrated me and I just felt like giving her a hearty shake. I'm glad Claire that you brought up the characters that were in the prolouge. When I finished reading the book I was left wondering who they actually were and what happened to them. I thought it might of just been me that felt that ay so I was glad to see that I wasn't. Can't think of much else at the moment, Tianna is being a bit distracting. If I remember anything else i wanted to say I'll leave my thoughts when i have some quiet.

Don't worry Nicc! It's good to hear your opinion. I think we all have very similar feelings on the book. It was good, but not outstanding.

I'm still online (seeing as my broadband is up for the night - a minor miracle) so I thought I'd post something that I meant to bring up earlier. What did you guys think of the cover of this book? Did you think it was suitable? I didn't think it was - it looked really Christmassy or wintery, and while that was well suited to the time of year it was released, it didn't reflect the contents at all IMO.

I agree with you Shirley. The cover had nothing whatsoever to do with the content of the book. But do you remember what Marisa Mackle said about Easons? When they are buying a book they just want a picture of smiling woman on the front because it sells -they don't care about the content!

Thats unbelievable about the smiling woman on the front cover of a book! I find a lot of those covers very off putting and misleading. I'm not going all feminist or anything but isn't it a bit rich assuming that women fall for the same old trick again and again - gorgeous woman on the front cover of a book; gleaming teeth - giving the impression they live a fabulous life!!! But I suppose there are umpteen woman out there that fall for it, if they didn't those books wouldn't be bestsellers.
I've heard of Cathy Kelly some years back by word of mouth but I would never have bought her book because of the 'smiling woman' on the jacket and I would never have got to know how much of an excellent writer she is because the cover was so off putting!
Linda Kavanagh's 'Love Hurts' was reviewed by a book club on RTE last year. Again the cover was very misleading and the presenter of the show said there was some harrowing scenes in it that the cover just didn't mirror.
I think the likes of Tracy and Linda are in a higher genre than chick lit.

When they are buying a book they just want a picture of smiling woman on the front because it sells -they don't care about the content! Exactly!!! I have to say though that the covers are really putting me off now. I flicked through Tina's new book and really liked what I saw - but I couldn't stand the cover. I think it might be time for publishers to take a new approach.

sorry I didnt make it last night. I read Wishful Thinking a while back but you girls have jogged my memory, I did like this book but having read Mellissas other books before this I agree with Shirley about the standard ie her first books being so good how can you get better? There was twists to the book but no great twist that made you go ahhhhhhhhhh I know Mellissas other novels I have hardly been able to turn the page quick enough to find out what happens but this one I could take or leave it. my favourite character was Rosie[?] but I thought no one would let their daughter treat them that way I am quite soft hearted but no way would I stand for that ,so slighty unbeliving and her son was a brute but I think like Oonagh said very unbelivable the way he changed and was nice at the end I found that hard to belive. I agree with you on the cover it is a nice cover but why snow? and it has got a christmassy feel but what if you read it in summer, also I agree with you on Tinas cover Shirley not very nice and if I didnt know of Tina and I was in the book shop it wouldnt catch my eye I see some of her other books have now got the simular covers??
one more point I know its only a book but I found it unnessary for Twix to die it nearly put me off I flicked to that part and knew what was going to happen and yes I cried for the dog{sad I know!!} I think he could of been injured yes but got better and that coild of been the bond between Rose and her son.
