Hi Charlie and Claire What an evening Where do I start Well I thought the book was great and one of Sarah's best if not the best. I felt like moving to Burnaby and swopping jobs with Molly. I found all the characters believeable. How about you Claire?

Yeah I loved them all. I felt the most for Paige trying to do so much. Didn't she have a wonderful man backing her? Although I loved the shoe shop I think I would rather work/own the book shop. Imagine getting your hands on all those wonderful books before they hit the shelves

Charlie, it's a lovely read. Nothing too heavy and real easy to get into. The characters all come across as being very believable. I don't know what more to say

The Dummie Dating I thought was a good idea, there are some guys that would love to helped out a little. I don't want to say too much and spoil the book for Charlie. But I couldn't believe what Kate did. I don't think we got to know her well enough in the book

What would you have done to make it longer

Post by claire on May 26, 2005 20:46:10 GMT
Because I can't remember his name and he was from the states. Kate fell for him and then ended up running from him and then he came looking for her

Like I said on page 3 I don't think we really go to know her.

Okay I think I'm all caught with this morn's posts.
I loved the book, the characters, the storyline, the cover and the chapters and the little pics above the chapters.
Usually when reading a book I find I've picked a fav character and look forward to reading their section most and not paying as much attention as I should to the other characters but in this book my fav was usually which ever chapter I was reading. In the end I still hadn't picked a fav but it probably more a toss up between Molly and Paige.
Callum, Paige's son was an interesting character, at times I imagined him to be about 10 from the things he was thinking or saying not 6 but I enjoyed reading about how Augus handle him.
I've been looking for other books by Sarah everywhere I go now.

Well I'm definitely late on this! Just wanted to add that Sarah sent me this book recently and I'm adoring it. What Paige is going through is very comforting, given I have a three and a half year-old daughter that could be Callum's younger sister Heavens life can be tough, Sara Webb Quest (new member)

Hi Everyone, Thanks for all the nice things you've said about It Had to Be You - all very interesting. And do post more if you think of them - or any questions or comments. And do be honest, criticism is useful if it's constructive. So fire away! In answer to the question about my titles - yes, some of the titles are indeed song titles - Three Times a Lady, It Had to Be You, Something to Talk About (Badly Drawn Boy - from About a Boy film), Some Kind of Wonderful. Take a Chance - well that's certainly a song title! (Take a Chance on Me, Abbba) And as the book is about an Abba band it ties in nicely. It's also about taking a chance in life and love. That's out in August and has a fab dark pink cover. I'll forward it to Catherine and she can put it up beside my posts instead of this current one. The book I'm working on at the moment (for next year) won't have a song title as a title - I'm not sure what it will be called as yet. But it will be longer than It Had to Be You - and more about being a mother and all the associated ups and downs. I'll tell you more about it soon, I promise. Bye for now, Sarah www.sarahwebb.info

Sarah just wanted to thank you for sending your book out to some of us.
I'm still looking for your other books, I haven't had a chance to have a good look in the city.
p.s everyone who walks in the door gets shown your book it has pride on place on my shelf, my father thought I was pulling his leg when I said where i got it from.

No problem Abby, glad you enjoyed it. And the new one will be available on Amazon - so watch out for that in August. And I think the others are on Amazon too - let me know if you have any probs getting them. My publishers, Pan Macmillan, are very active in Australia (that's where you live, isn't it?) so a bookshop could order the other titles. Best, Sarah

I'll find em, i just gotta get my act together, I'll have to go have a chat with the people at a bookshop, once the next 2 weeks are over I might get enough time to venture out of the house at reasonable hours (hours when shops are actually open). If i'm out of the house during the day its usually only long enough to quicky skim the bookshop shelves and dash out again. I've got a long list ready for when i get there!
