Thats true I also remember the tough time Cecilia received from the media when her first book came out. Of the two books I've read her first was probably the best but yet they all eat their words and gave her second book great reviews when clearly it was the least exciting of the two. So whats going on? The good think about her books is its getting the younger generation back reading.

Yeah I was wondering recently 'who is buying her books?' - no one I know admits to reading them, but then a friend of mine told me that her daughters love her books. They are 15 and 17 years old, so perhaps that age group is her main audience.

Im sorry but my aunt and my neighbour loves her and the y are in their 40s . i would have read ps i love you and i loved it but wre was rubbish. any one of my friends thought the same. I think also that she got way worse reviews for the second book than the first. that s just my opinion. I feel the teenage market goes for more Sophie Kinsella than her i feel she is too serious. i will read her book as i did enjoy the plot of ps i loved you. I personally think that Bertie was an impact on her sales as i bought it as who's daughter she was. I also liked westlife mad at the time and sure enough her sister got married that summer before the book came out and she and her sister was in every magazine

Hey Oonagh, that's interesting about your neighbours reading Cecilia Ahern, so it's not just the teenagers. It's also interesting that you enjoyed her first book but not her second one. I am looking forward to finding out what you think of the third one!

Clever thinking oonagh! I feel the same as Susan. I too had it in my hand but it just didn't grab me. I won't be reading it but I will join in on the bookclub to see what you all thought of it. I read her first book and it was a lovely story/plot but I thought a little naive(sp). I never read the second one so no opinion on that

Her dad is the Taoiseach here in Ireland, the equivalent of your Prime Minister, and her sister Georgina married Nicky Byrne from Westlife.

I agree Megan. I think she has genuine talent and a lot of people were too quick to rubbish her.

Finished this book the other night and I loved it, when I first started I didn't think I was going to like it or if I was going to carry on reading it but I did one of the main reasons was to find out about Ivan and I'm so glad I did it was a refreshing change and just the kind of book I like.
I liked the way it was wrote I liked to follow Elizabeth and Ivan on their different feelings and thoughts. I liked Elizabeth and I felt for her and I thought Ivan was a fantastic idea. written on the back of the book Glamour have wrote "Guaranteed to tug on your heartstrings" and it defiantly tugged on mine. I would like to say more but for those who haven't read it I would spoil it.
some people might not like it because of Ivan's character but its only a book and not to be taken serious thats how I looked at it a light read and a good book to forget all your worries a real escapism.
I would recommend this but I know alot have different views on Cecelia's books I loved her first one second not as good but her third to me is her best.

Me too! I agree with you Charlie that this one is her best and that it is pure escapism - the best type in my opinion. THanks for letting us know how you got on! I wonder what Cecilia Ahern will write next. I hope it is something unsusual like this one and that she doesn't revert back to the style of her second one!

I know Oonagh! It's amazing how people can have so many different opinions on the same book! I find it encouraging for me as a writer - if one person thinks what I write is tripe, it doesn't mean that everyone will - thankfully!

Just a little note to say I have read Cecelia Ahern's If You Could See Me Now, and loved it. It was different at the beginning, and I'm afraid I felt a little angry about Elizabeth rather than sad for her, as nobody has to be anybody's door mat, and she was door mat to both her father and sister. I read in one of the newspaper reviews here in Australia, that a movie is planned for this book, and that Hugh Jackman is first consideration for the part of Ivan. If this is so, it will make it even sadder toward the end of the story, but will be worth the tears for sure. I just love Hugh. Also read Marian Keye's Is there Anybody Out There. Brilliant book. Could not put it down and read it over 2 nights. Now of course I am wandering around lost, looking for something to read.

Hi Jo
You have made me want to go back and finish this book. I put it down some weeks ago because the character Elizabeth annoyed me the way she was always there for her troubled sister. Of course people should be there for each other but this was just plain and simply taking the biscuit!
